Rows generators used in windy locations… does the power affect speed and wind? 10 PTS?
Hi
Q: rows of wind-powered generators are used in various windy locations to generate electric power. does the power generated affect speed of the wind? would locations behind the windmills be windier if they werent there?
Thank you so much im stumped! (;
i dont think so because when we look how the wind is created, we see details that aren’t affected by the windmill. In particuler, the wind occurs beacuse of the pressure difference. In mountain places, the pressure is lower at the top of the mountain so the air moves from low pressure to high pressure. Windmill doesn’t affect that for sure!
but the speed of the wind i think would be slower. The air actually does work and loses kinetic energy. And the total energy decreases, while affecting the speed.
Hope that helps!
